I saw a lot of Danny in The Coach and Horses, Soho, during the 90's. He was living in a shelter near Covent Garden. A nice, gentle bloke but his mind was really gone. He absolutely worshipped Peter Green. Mick Fleetwood eventually tracked him down, saying he had a lot of royalties owed to him, which I'm sure was true. Last I heard he was living in a nursing home somewhere to the south of London.
He and Peter Green were a tremenduous combination back in the good old days. Such a shame how things worked out for both of them.

I used to see him around Tottenham Court Road a lot in the 90's and he was always up for a chat. He got caught up in religious crap too in the 60's and 70's but drink was his real demon.

Kirwan didn't join any weird cult. He was, however, a severe alcoholic. Last I knew of him was a good 20 years ago when he was living in some hostel in Soho. He'd been tracked down by journalists writing about Peter Green's then "comeback".
Rest of the band knew, but he apparently wasn't open to offers of any help. RIP

Mallard
Just watched a YouTube of them doing Oh Well. It seems to me Peter and Danny continually swap lead parts and exchange solos as well as playing a lot of it in unison. Jeremy just plays maraccas, but he could play a bit, too.
Amazing stuff, whatever is going on.

As a drummer I've got to say these stories about lead guitarists dying really brighten up my day so thanks for posting.

Jeremy Spencer joined the Children of God. Like Green, he is basically sane nowadays.

I think that was Green.
There was a documentary with the band talking about Green and Kirwan both losing the plot at some sort of hippy commune party in Germany.
LSD fucked them both.

Is he the one that joined a religious cult?
